Nike : Track + Field

Track and field athletics, commonly known as athletics or track and field, is a collection of sports events that involve running, throwing and jumping. The name “athletics” is derived from the Greek word “athlos”, meaning “contest”.  Running events are conducted on a track, typically 400 meters, and include sprints, middle distance events, long distance events (over 3000m), hurdles, relays, road races and racewalking.  Field events are segmented into throwing events: discus, hammer, javelin and shot put; and jumping events: high jump and pole vault.  Finally, there are also multiple-event competitions which combine events from both the track (running) and field, such as Pentathlon, Heptathlon and Decathlon.

Royal Elastics

Combining the philosophy of Royal Elastics with the growing trend of fashionable outerwear, this line of active footwear focuses on keywords
of feminine, elegant and funky.  The silhouettes are more streamlined, sexy and provocative while retaining athleticism and boldness of the

simplicity and complexity of the modern times.

Chrysler Exterior

Taking into the account the market trends of the time, the goal was to design a luxury coupe with an attitude. The vehicle was to have a bold, intimidating presence embodying sophistication, progress and a healthy dose of Hollywood glamour.

Jeep Interior

The premise of this interior proposal was to create an ultra sporty mix of styling and functionality by drawing inspiration from action sports apparel and accessories, as well as the original heritage of the Jeep brand. The essence of the philosophy of wabi-sabi was carried over into the material use and development, by using non-uniform grains and pattern applications over large surface areas which would be different from vehicle to vehicle; thus, allowing each customer to have their own, unique cut of the panel.

Dodge Viper

Paykan Hunter Apparel

A good friend of mine, Shahin, has recently started up a new blog called Paykan Hunter, devoted to Iranian-made car Paykan. Paykan  was the 1967 Hillman Hunter originally manufactured by the British Rootes Group, which was also owned by no other than the Chrysler Corporation.  The Paykan was produced in Iran for 38 years, unchanged, except for a minor face-lift.  It has over time gained a sort of a cult status among certain auto enthusiasts.

The following is a set of brand collateral intended to expand the reach of the blog and its enthusiasts.  As of the date of this post’s publication, the T-shirt prototypes are being silkscreened, and we are getting quotes for potential mass market deployment.  Images of the T-Shirts “in action” will be up soon, so stay tuned!

2008 Dodge Magnum

Restyle of the front fascia of Dodge Magnum for 2008, emphasizing sportier, more aggressive appearance.  One of the main goals of the refresh was to decrease the wide-eyed look of the head lamps of the first generation Magnum, and in its place create highly detailed head lamp inners, with possibly more sophisticated lighting options.  Overall, the goal was to update the vehicle with a clean and modern statement.

Threezees

Threezees were developed as vinyl toys proposals, and are still in development stage. Basically, Threezees come from the Land of Zee, and would readily migrate to the land of Kid Robot, should they find a willing sponsor. Their names are a comical play on words taken from Serbo-Croatian-Bosnian Language (yes, a mouthful).

**UPDATE** Threezees made it on Notcot.org!!! Thanks, NOTCOT!

Dodge Nucleus

Dodge Nucleus was a six month project completed during a design rotation at Chrysler’s, now unfortunately defunct, Pacifica Advanced Design Center in Carlsbad, California. The concept vision arose from an identified customer segment by the marketing department, for a vehicle accomodating future needs of the highly energetic Generation Y.  The result was Nucleus : a versatile eccentric vehicle with versatile space, configurable for an active and adventurous lifestyle.

Oakley Eyewear

Series of design proposals for Oakley Eyewear, focusing on both men’s and women’s Rx and sunglasses frames, in both wire and plastic materials.  Designs were developed with Oakley’s unparalleled craftsmanship and patented materials, such as Unobtanium and O Matter, in mind. The designs target Gen Y active sports market, with attention to sculptural detail and concealed luxury, while adding textural variants and sub-culture graphic elements: such as tone-on-tone material break-ups and graffiti-like stenciling.

Malakye + 686 Apparel Competition

Proposal for Malakye + 686 Snowboarding Jacket competition.  Malakye provided the technical drawing, logos that needed to be used and color options.  The themes focused on an 80s influence combined with complete disregard for typical color combinations, in order to create unique graphic breakups.

Chrysler Interior

The premise of this interior proposal was to create an environment within a vehicle which embodied the qualities of simplicity, sustainability and feels-like-home comfort. Dynamic lines are combined with a sophisticated color palette to further enhance the elegance of the form.  The final statement is thus one of undisturbed purity, energy and timeless beauty. These slight, gentle and energetic surface shifts alongside unique patterns and eco-friendly materials result in a holistic and inviting environment.

Costumes : Turandot

Inspired by the Design Studio Press’ The Skillful Huntsman, the Turandot costume sketches show few examples of visual brainstorming, attempting to figure out an overall silhouette that Turandot should embody: imposing? Intimidating? Feminine? Adrogynous?  What kind of statement should she make with her presence? Overall, the goal was to create Turandot and her presence to be so awe-inspiring, shocking and somewhat over-the-top to relate to her attitude, stubborn mind and disregard for the pain she causes to others. As she eventually accepts/understands love, her costume would transform as well into a much simpler and eloquent statement.

Center Console

This center console design proposal was created after an intensive research into the trend developments in E-Shift and consumer electronics technology, alongside extensive voice-of-customer input regarding storage and storage use. The console was also supposed to be modular enough so it could seamlessly integrate in two differently branded interiors, without resorting to a non-descript, generic design form vocabulary. The result was a rather sculptural center console, with a faux floating armrest feature, which added both elegance and energy to the design.

Wheels

Series of wheel designs that have been produced for the market. The wheels embody sporty, exotic and elegant undertones that appropriately match the vehicles they were intended for.  Prototypes were fabricated by a supplier and were verified for correct design intent, appearance and material finish.

Sets + Environments : La Traviata

This proposal for La Traviata set, focuses on simplicity and modernism, thus allowing the key elements of the environment to make an instant and clear impact. Instead of overwhelming the stage, this set would provide a visually quiet environment, thus allowing the focus to be fully devoted to the aural experience.
